Magistrate Davidson
Magistrate Elizabeth (“Betsy”) Davidson has been in public service for over 37 years. She began her legal career as a staff attorney for the Twelfth District Court of Appeals before relocating to Cincinnati to work as a staff attorney for the First District Court of Appeals. After twelve years in Cincinnati, Magistrate Davidson moved back to her hometown of Hamilton, Ohio, and spent several years as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Civil Division of the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office. Prior to her appointment as a Magistrate in December 2024, Magistrate Davidson held the title of Director of Strategic Procurement at Miami University while also heading its Facilities Contracting Office for over twenty years until her retirement from Miami in 2024.
Magistrate Davidson taught legal writing classes at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law, served on the Hamilton County Children Services Commission, and has enjoyed being involved in a variety of organizations, ranging from membership in the Hamilton Dog Training Club (past President), to teaching pre-school religious classes at Saint Peter in Chains Catholic Church.
Magistrate Davidson graduated as a member of the last graduating class of Taft Senior High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University and received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo College of Law (Law Review). She is admitted to practice before the Ohio Supreme Court; U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio; and U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit. Magistrate Davidson is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Butler County Bar Association, and the Ohio Association of Magistrates. She loves the outdoors, where she can often be seen riding her tandem bicycle with her granddaughter and enjoying the friendly competitiveness of local 5K races.
